Three year, nearly $1M partnership with Lumension to improve internet security announced: The Department of Computer Science at the Missouri University of Science and Technology has established a partnership with Lumension to improve internet security, as announced in a joint press release from the Missouri University of Science and Technology and Lumension on September 5, 2013. The partnership is for three years and worth nearly $1 million. Nathan Eloe, Dr. Leopold and Dr. Sabharwal win the best paper award for their paper "Spatial Temporal Reasoning Using QSR, Physics, and Image Processing" at the 2013 Conference on Distributed Multimedia Systems (DMS 2013) in Brighton, United Kingdom. [August 19, 2013]

Dr. Sriram Chellappan’s undergraduate research students Levi Malott and Pasha Palangpour have won third place in the Frank J. Redd Student Scholarship Competition as part of the 27th Annual AIAA/USU Conference on Small Satellites held in August 2013 at Utah State University for their paper entitled "Small Spacecraft Software Modeling: A Petri Net-Based Approach" where they competed with students from the University of Michigan, Israel Institute of Technology, Auburn University, and MIT. As third place winners they each received a prize of $2500 and the European Space Agency is sponsoring their registration fees for the 2014 Small Satellites Systems and Services (4S) Symposium in Majorca, Spain where they get to present a conference poster of their winning paper. Selection for winners was after a paper presentation round with judges drawn from industry, academia, and government. Levi Malott intends to start his Ph.D. with Dr. Sriram Chellappan in Spring Semester 2014. [August 15, 2013]
