The Computer Science faculty has a broad range of scholarly interests. These interests include computational science, graphics and robotics, information systems (traditional and multimedia), intelligent systems (artificial intelligence), parallel and distributed computing, internet computing, embedded systems, as well as software engineering. Faculty are not only actively doing research in these areas, but they also integrate their research experiences with the classroom experiences of undergraduate and graduate students.

In Computer Science at Missouri S&T, we have a strong program in Computer Science research including areas including distributed embedded systems, machine learning, data mining, and software engineering.You will have the opportunity to work on research projects both solely within Computer Science as well as Interdisciplinary programs between Computer Science and engineering departments.

Research Opportunities

Research within the department may be disciplinary or interdisciplinary. Often Missouri S&T CS graduate students work in a large group setting with faculty from many departments examining advanced research problems in Bioinformatics, Homeland Security, Embedded Systems, and Virtual Reality. Cooperation between students and faculty at this advanced level is a hallmark of Missouri S&T Computer Science research.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of the Missouri S&T Graduate program work for high technology companies and command intriguing and challenging job positions. Ph.D. graduates either join the academic life as a professor or work for top notch research firms.
