Minor in Computer Science

A minor in Computer Science is designed to support the students major program. The minor offers versatility to enhance the chosen major. The education design encourages the student to give a more purposeful and effective pattern for the college work outside the major field. By listing the minor on a transcript, the abilities and interests of the student will be emphasized.

Rules for getting a minor in Computer Science

Students who want to minor in CS should:

  • take CS 53 and score a C or better.
  • take CS153 and score a C or better.
  • take an additional 12 credits of CS courses above and beyond CS 153.

*Co-listed courses can only count if they are registered under CS title.

**At most 6 out of the18 credits can be transfer credits and transfer classes must show a C grade or better.

  • If the student has taken CS 158 and/or CS 253, they need to score a C or better in these classes.
  • The overall grade point average of all of the minor courses must be a C or better.
  • Obtain a Form for the minor and fill it out. List all the courses taken in CS along with the grades obtained and semester taken.

  • Sign the form and turn it in to CS secretary in the main CSoffice to obtain the signatures of the CS Minor Advisor and Department Chair.
